I shot all my photos in at night with the use of a small desk lamp. I used a spring from a pen, a ring, a book, some white paper, a bracelet, and a mask. I used my cell phone camera to take the pictures, so all the settings were automatic. If I had had to change the settings, the white balance would have been incandescent and the ISO would probably been 1600. For the photo where the ring makes the shadow of a heart in a book, the light is cast using a small desk lamp on the opposite side of the ring. The positive space of the photo would be the ring, the shadow, and the text. The negative space would be the blank spaces of the pages. I used the rule of thirds and placed the ring where one of the intersections would be. I think the words on the pages add visual interest to the picture as well. The shadow of the heart adds a sort of comfortable or romantic ambiance to the photo.
