For the picture the leaves falling on the boots I used a shutter speed of 1/160 of a second. The ISO was around 300 and the white balance was cloudy. I tried to freeze the leaves falling. I actually took this photo laying down with my feet slightly raised on a rock wall. I did crop the photo to make the boots slightly off center.
For the photo of me holding the swirl of light the shutter speed was set to around 15 seconds. The ISO was around 1600 and the white balance did not matter sice we were in complete darkness. Because of the long shutter speed you are able to see the ball of light as a moved it around rather than just a dot. The camera was about 10 feet away and parallel to me when the picture was taken. I cropped the photo to make it follow the rule of thirds.
